What is a terrarium?

Terrarium, the word is a bit unfamiliar, isn't it? So think like this. If you grow a jungle inside a completely closed glass bottle or glass jar, keep in mind that a terrarium is for something similar. You will understand exactly what it is when you read this article.

A terrarium is usually a sealed glass container with soil and plants. It has a part inside the container that can be opened to reach the plants and for maintenance. The transparent nature of the glass allows both heat and light to enter the terrarium. The ideal environment for the growth of one plant has just been created. These are often kept as decorative and ornamental items.

With the help of the heat received through the terrarium wall, a small-scale water cycle occurs in this pot. Do you know how? The temperature of the air inside rises with the heat. Then the water evaporates from the soil and plants inside it. Here this water vapor condenses on the surface of the walls of the terrarium and is added to the soil and plants little by little. Here this process helps the growth of the plants and creates a perfect ecosystem that helps the survival of the plants. Due to this uniform supply of water, the plants are prevented from getting dehydrated and the light coming through the transparent walls of the pot helps the plants to carry out photosynthesis, creating such a perfect ecosystem. It is allowed to happen.

The first terrarium was made in 1842. This was done by the botanist Nathaniel Bagshaw Ward. According to the book, this happened by accident. Nathaniel started an experiment with several closed pots containing ferns and spores, but one of the pots was ignored for some reason. .This pot has been out of Nathaniel's sight for some time. After a few days, our protagonist saw the container and was surprised by what he saw. It is said that there were several beautiful flowers and plants planted in it. Nathaniel has investigated the fact that this happened without even putting water in a covered container. The concept came to the fore. It became a craze at that time.
