Development of Construction Industry - 01

The construction industry is an industry where a large number of people depend on a combination of many sectors. If you take it with the commission, it is impossible to say the number of dependents clearly 🤫. This industry runs from building a small drainage system, concreting a road to building a large building and city system.A large number of occupations from laborer to engineer are associated with this industry.

Since the time of the previous kings, our country has been a state that has been amazed in the field of construction. The technology of some ancient products can't be found even in western countries. When you see designs like Sigiriya, Lowamahapaya, Ruwanwelisaya, you can imagine where we were centuries ago, right? We cannot be satisfied with the level of such technical knowledge we are at today, but in recent times, the scholars of our country have contributed to several new discoveries. From today we are eager to add those findings as well as other side stories t your knowledge through this series of articles.

As mentioned earlier, the number of dependents due to the construction industry is huge. Daily wage workers get a lot of support in this industry. Currently, a shortage of untrained workers has become a serious problem in the construction industry.Even though universities and other educational institutions produce engineers and support staff, the production of trained technicians is very few. After O/L, A/L, you can reach your goals by joining the nearest technical college rather than taking a three wheeler and staying at the junction. It will be easy.It would be ideal if the government implements a program for this. In addition to this, shortage of raw materials and high prices are another problem in this industry. This is due to the regulations imposed by the government. Apart from these, one of the main problems faced by the construction companies in Sri Lanka is that foreign companies are given projects in Sri Lanka. This policy of the government is also a big problem for us.

I will write down a few companies that have endured such upheavals and tremors and have been in this field for some time. These companies remain high in the rankings. But the discovery and use of new technologies is less seen in Sri Lankan companies. Due to factors such as the continuous use of old methods and poor management of their own personnel and other resources, it is seen in Sri Lankan companies that projects take longer than the targeted time. A major shortcoming.
